Admission Requirements
ADMISSION PRE-REQUISITES
Students wishing to enrol in the 3-year BA Program are required:
- to hold a secondary school diploma that is validated by the Italian diplomatic authority in the students’ home country and that is recognized as equivalent to the Italian Secondary school diploma (having followed a period of study lasting at least 12 years) – see the following paragraph
- to send the original university transcript to be translated, and legalized by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the student’s home country
- to send a university transcripts which includes all exams passed, the credit points awarded, the subject area, final mark and date of exams passed. The transcript should be translated in Italian or English
- to send the program descriptions of the courses followed at the original university. The documents should be translated in Italian or English
- to send an digital portfolio (not returnable)
- to send a curriculum vitae/resume (max 2 typed pages)
- to send a motivational letter (max 1 typed page)
- to demonstrate proficiency in the Italian language
- to comply with the pre-enrolment procedures, if they are NON EU citizens, and to submit to the relevant Italian Diplomatic Authorities the documents foreseen by the law regulating NON EU citizens’ access to Italian universities.
STUDY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Please note that the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research has issued the following mandatory regulations:
- to be admitted to an Italian university, applicants must possess a diploma from abroad equivalent to an Italian secondary school diploma (maturità) which is recognized by Italian diplomatic authorities, or the maturità diploma itself;
- to be considered valid, the diploma must be translated and legalized by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the diploma was issued, regardless of the school’s actual location. For example, the diploma of a German school which is located in France must be validated by the Italian Consulate in Germany. The embassy or consulate will provide a “declaration of value” for the diploma;
- the foreign diploma must be obtained at the end of a period of study lasting at least 12 years (contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the diploma was issued for more information);
- if the diploma was obtained after 11 years, in order for it to be considered valid for admission to an Italian university, it must be integrated with 1 or 2 years of college or university, with all exams passed and with admission respectively to the second or third year at the applicant’s original university;
- the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma is valid for admission to an Italian university;
- the International Baccalaureate “certificate” is not valid for admission to an Italian university;
- in order to be considered valid, a U.S. High School diploma must be supplemented by either successfully passing two years of college exams (with admission to the third year), or successfully passing one year of college exams (with admission to the second year) plus four advanced placement tests. - GCE diplomas are valid only if applicants show they have passed 6 different subjects, 3 of which must be advanced, (A level) and which relate to the program requested.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Please note that NABA requires International students to have reached the B1 level (intermediate level) as established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:
- present a certificate issued by authorised bodies as established in the Ministerial regulations (mandatory condition to apply for a scholarship)
- passing the on-line language test organised by the Academy;
In order to help students settle in, NABA has set up a mandatory course of Technical Italian for Design taking place before regular classes start.
The Italian language course hours required vary according to the student’s mother tongue:
- Far East and Middle East: 500 hrs
- Eastern Europe: 360 hrs
- Other European countries (including English speaking countries): 320 hrs
- Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries: 160 hrs
