| Design/Spring Semester/ DA Fashion Design Studying fashion design in Italy and more precisely in Milan is a unique experience that allows students to be in direct contact with the Italian Fashion System. The creativity of fashion designers, production capacity, the quality of both fabrics and confections, and innovations in retail and communication are all integrated. The program concentrates on creative, cultural, productive, and marketing aspects. Such integration is possible because students have the opportunity to have constant dialogues with experts operating in the sector. The program aims not only to stimulate students’ creativity and to invent styles, but also and above all to face the true challenge of the future: the re-conception of the design process and the establishment of new rules in a market of products and professions that have experienced a radical transformation. The program includes the following: - Lecturesmajor areas are Psychology of Fashion, Fashion Anthropology, Socio-economic Forecasting, Textile Design, Contemporary Art, Fashion Marketing, Design Methodology, Constructing a Collection, Tailoring Elements - Visits to companies, studios, and atéliers - Meetings with managers and visits to exhibitions, museums, and major cultural events in order to provide a real-world contact with design culture - Two/three Workshops in which students have the opportunity to practice project methods. These workshops are always in collaboration with companies and fashion designers. The students are not just asked to develop a design project but a whole pathway highlighting their ability to use concepts and research tools acquired during the course of the program - The Final Project, which is developed individually by each student, appropriately supported by a professor/designer - Italian language course Contact Hours: 225 of which 180 will be dedicated to the design program and 45 to the Italian language course (either Italian 101 or Italian 102) |
