The tree of life - Wacah Chan – according to the Mayan culture, is the mirror of oneself and one’s awareness, in respect to all that’s been created.
Starting from this ancient tradition, the workshop aims to test a new design process including three steps. The first step is a ritual: through a series of sensorial inputs, the deep and creative self is being inspired, explored, and stimulated. The second step is represented by the focalization and abstraction of a personal concept. The third one is the design phase of a personal Tree of Life, as the personal expression and result of an inner journey.
Sounds, perfumes, flavors, and sensations, all rooted in Mexico, become the basic tools for students to follow this “sensitive design” process ¬– on one hand the attention to tangible matter and its intrinsic qualities, on the other hand the aware perception of the personal inner world.
The Wacah Chan workshop will take place in the Cathedral at La Fabbrica del Vapore, as part of the “Posti di Vista. Design Sensibile” (“Posti di vista. Sensitive Design”) initiative, produced by FDVLAB – Associazione Laboratori Fabbrica del Vapore.

"Wacah-chan. The tree of life" is also part of the “Ama Foreste” workshop series.
