From November 30, 2011 to March 17, 2012, the "House of the Italians" tells about itself: the Italian Presidency of the Republic gives tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy with the exhibition "Il Quirinale. Dall’Unità d’Italia ai nostri giorni".
For the conception, design and realization of the exhibition, has been renewed a
historic and valuable collaboration between the renowned theatre director Luca
Ronconi, and the theatre designer Margherita Palli, director of the School of Theatre and Exhibit Design at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti. The co-working between the two artists began in the mid ‘80s and has led to the creation of sets of many theatre performances projected by the director and that have been in various theatres in Italy and worldwide.
The exhibition, whose opening is scheduled on November 30 at Palazzo del Quirinale at the presence of the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, is set between the Cortile d'onore and the Piano nobile’ rooms inside the Palazzo del Quirinale and is ideated by Paola Carucci, Sovraintendente dell'Archivio Storico della Presidenza della Repubblica and Louis Godart, Consigliere per la Conservazione del Patrimonio Artistico.
The fil rouge of the exhibition is the presentation of the complex path for the
National Unification, due to the difficult trials and moments of crisis, but also to
significant moments of consolidation of the State. The exhibition set up has used the documentary sources preserved in the Palazzo del Quirinale, like illustrations and archival documents, but also come from other museums and institutions, including photographs, film and tv shooting, sound recordings, with the aim of represent the Quirinale as a source of collective memory and of the development of a positive collective consciousness.
